Falcons on the Bay Bridge (oh my)

March 8, 2007

We had hoped that George and Gracie would return to 77Beale for the current season, but it looks like the falcons have decided against it this time. It looks as though G&G have returned to George’s birth site, W4 the central anchor island of the Bay Bridge. Their behavior is consistent with eggs being layed close by.

The following photos are some of the best I can offer. Taken from Pier 14 but over 3/4 mile away from the bridge.

The whole shoots are available on my website for viewing here.

Go to the Raptor Diary ‘07 tab at the top and then select the links labled new to see all the photos.

Thanks for looking and good birding to all.

  1. Hi Glenn, this is my third season with George and Gracie. I just wanted to thank you for all your beautiful and educational photos of my two favorite birds. I have learned so much from the last three seasons. I guess we are in for some new experiences with a bridge nesting. I have spent many hours in front of my computer with a dopey grin on my face just looking at pictures, or reading from the wiki. It has been a lot of fun, keep up the good work. Joan

  2. I will try to keep everyone informed. The bridge location is a the limit distance wise of what I can photograph. The birds as so small in the photos taken.
